With the release of "Breakaway" Kelly Clarkson has shown us she is a star in her own right. This album shows that she is a true talent bringing more of a mainstream pop collection with a slight edge--to put it frankly---this girl can sing!

The title song, "Breakaway," was written by M. Gerrard, B. Benante/ and Avril Lavigne and is an excellent choice for Kelly's voice. This song is also featured in the movie
Princess Diaries II and is delivered with that same powerhouse of a voice that won her American Idol. The enitire CD is expertly arranged and shows us more of Kelly's style and personality. She is not afraid to tackle any style and easily shows us  without a lot of techno, gimmicky, melodies- that she can deliver a straight, in your face, rock song like, "Since You've Been Gone," which is still getting airplay in daily radio rotations and was a huge chart hit.. It is very up tempo, jump up and down and hits you with a strong driving pulse.

"Behind These Hazel Eyes," is the third song to be released as a single and is moving up the charts as I write this. Again, this is some fairly aggressive material that she delivers effortlessly with the assistance of some soaring rock guitars and forceful drums. She can also deliver ballads with the best of them and shows her very soulful side with the songs, ""Because of You," and "Where Is Your Heart.." "Because of You," and "Addicted," have an Evanescence type feel, with a pounding piano and roaring guitars which may be because she hired former Evanescence members Ben Moody and David Hodges to produce the CD, and assist with the songwriting. No matter though, she sings them with her own unique style and vocal tone.

One of my favorites on this CD is " Beautiful Diaster," it was just awesome. Soulful delivery with a marked accomplishment of interpretation. It was made for her to sing. Each song on this CD has the potential to be a hit. I am a "Kelly Clarkson," fan and knew when she sang at the audition that she would ultimately win the title and the hearts of America. In interviews , she is real, what you see is what you get, and she is not afraid to show herself which just adds to her appeal and talent.

This CD also includes the songs, "Gone," "Walk Away," "You Found Me," "I Hate Myself for Losing You," and "Hear Me." This collection of rock tunes just demonstarte her sense of nuance, flexibility, and shows us how her talent has grown.

I highly recommend  running out and buying this CD if you do not have it. Kelly fans are going to love this CD and new fans are in for a treat. Kelly has a powerful vocal range we have not heard in quite some time and she is fun to listen to and to watch-she is out on tour now, so check the dates at www.kellyclarksonweb.com.
